The cover is the one thing standing between you and September
It's your single biggest conversion lever and it hasn't started. Premium covers take 3–4 weeks, and good designers often have a 2–4 week queue before they even begin. Book the designer this week. The eBook front can start immediately; the paperback wrap waits on final page count. If the right designer can't start until August, either rush it or move the buy-day to mid-October — don't ship a rushed cover on a premium book. (See the separate Cover Design Brief.)
